'Electronic soil' that enhances crop growth developed by scientists

Scientists have developed an electrically conductive soil for hydroponics, a soilless cultivation method. The new cultivation substrate, called eSoil, stimulates the root system of plants electrically. Barley seedlings grown in this conductive soil showed a 50% increase in growth rate in just 15 days. Hydroponics enables the growth of food in controlled settings, making it suitable for urban environments. The researchers believe that this finding will pave the way for further research in hydroponic cultivation, which can help address food security issues in areas with limited arable land and harsh environmental conditions.
