Researchers at the University of Leipzig Medical Centre conducted a study to investigate the potential link between gut health and brain function. The study involved 59 participants who consumed a high dose of dietary prebiotics for 14 days. The results showed that the prebiotic intake reduced activation of reward-related brain areas in response to high-calorie food stimuli. This effect was accompanied by changes in the composition of gut bacteria.
