Gene discoveries might help prevent deadly coronary artery disease: Research

A multinational team of researchers has identified nearly a dozen genes that contribute to calcium buildup in coronary arteries, which can lead to coronary artery disease. By targeting these genes with existing drugs or dietary supplements, doctors may be able to delay or stop the progression of the disease. The researchers conducted a meta-analysis of data from over 35,000 people of European and African ancestry and identified 40 candidate genes linked to coronary artery calcification.
